Who would have thought 80+ years ago 214 West Mill Street in Plainville would still be a thriving full service salon in 2024.
Starting with Elvera Bieker (103 years old), the 1st owner of “Charmee”. While her family resided in the upstairs apartment. Elvera worked in the salon down stairs and now resides in Salina, Kansas.
Becky Richardson Shunn was the 2nd owner “BJ’s Shears Pleasure” and for anyone who knew Becky, she was a jokester and the life of the party. I’m sure you can tell that by the choice of salon name!
Paula Mick was the 3rd owner of “Trimmer’z Salon” she started her career in 1987. Then purchased it from Becky Shunn in 2000. Paula’s mother (Marilyn Hamel) was also well known stylist in the area. Paula was no stranger to hard work, while she owned the salon for 15 years and poured her heart and soul into the business and building. Then sold it to her daughter Ashley.
Ashley LaDuke was the 4th owner of “Trimmer’z Salon” and purchased it from her mother in 2015, Ashley followed in her mom and grandmother‘s footsteps, she always knew her heart would be in the beauty industry. While Ashley owned the salon for 9 years she always worked hard to maintain a fun and professional salon for the community.
